Chapter 1: The Vision Takes Root

The beginning of the Mayita’s Café journey

Mayita’s Café began with a connection to Honduras, a love of coffee, and a long-term vision for a family property in Jesús de Otoro, Intibucá.

We are not beginning by claiming to have already reached the final destination. Our first coffees will be sourced through carefully evaluated roasting and fulfillment partners, with preference given to Honduran coffees whose origin and sourcing practices can be documented. We will clearly identify who produced, sourced, and roasted each coffee whenever that information is available.

As Mayita’s Café grows, our goal is to build direct relationships with Honduran producers and cooperatives, develop the experience required to import green coffee responsibly, and create a more transparent connection between the people who grow the coffee and the people who enjoy it.

The longer journey leads back to Jesús de Otoro. Our family property is part of a future plan to develop coffee using responsible land-management practices, appropriate shade, careful water use, and respect for the protected portions of the land.

That work will take time. We intend to share the progress honestly—from early planning and planting through the first harvests.

Mayita’s Café is therefore more than a store. It is a business being built one responsible step at a time: Honduran coffee today, stronger producer relationships tomorrow, and a family farm for the future.
